Mega Bloks!

I don't really have room for them, but I had some of my collection assembled a few weeks ago and posted the pics to my journal.

They are of fairly manageable size.Collapse )

Since then, I've had some time to rearrange The Office (though it's still a work in progress - this setup is just so I can enjoy them for a while).

This cut is only hiding some links, 'cuz I haven't bothered to downsize these pics and they are HUGEish.Collapse )

And Hot Toys sent an e-mail warning me that my Sold Out Special Edition Will Turner should be in the mail soon. (And I will SO be taking pictures when he gets here.)

Till then, bye. :)

Here are two wildly unrelated, related items.

I wanted to show off a soft sided lunch "box" I found a couple of weeks ago, and decided to combine that with the PotC DVD player I got for Christmas.

I've never had an "upright" DVD player before (the discs are mounted inside the wheel). I'm wondering if the vertical spinning means it'll wear out faster than your average horizontal spinning DVD player. :-p Otherwise, I think it's terribly cute. That's the remote off to the left. The screen menu for it uses a pirate-y looking font and the screen saver involves flashes of a few character outlines.

The lunch box was at Target. There were a few other "cooler" type lunch carriers also available, but they only used the skull imagery from the series - this one uses actual character images (Jack and Davy). I thought the banners on each side were particularly interesting. Is "PotC: Legends of the Brethren Court" a future cartoon? A suggested title for PotC4? Was it was pulled from one of the PotC books or from the AWE DVD extras - because it almost sounds familiar (maybe because "Legends of" is such a trope...) Or was it some nonsense thrown on there by a marketing geek to draw in suckers like me? :-p

Probably the latter, but I like it. It sounds like a fanfic writing challenge.

Does anyone know?

I was at a comic show and this guy had this in a corner. After a bit of haggling I took it home.
I think he thought I was nuts, because I just could not contain my joy of wanting it. He said later he could never get rid of it. LOL does he know something I don't?

The Aztec Gold Chest. It has a false bottom that you can lift out to store more booty underneath. It is fairly heavy and seems to be made of some kind of resin, but it is solid. I love the detail.

These guys are too cute. The Will Turner and "Deluxe" Jack Sparrow from the Swashbucklers series available at Target. (Does anyone know the company that produced them? I've only had them a month or two but I've already forgotten it. I really should start hanging on to packaging for these things.) And I've been fooling around with photobucket, so these pics are HUGE compared to the last ones.

Notice the bondage (a big plus, in my opinion) and the use of Will's ponytail as a holster (I don't think that was what the manufacturers had in mind, but it works for me). The dastardly expressions made them my current favorites. :-p

These are the "Deluxe" Will Turner and Jack Sparrow versions. Yes, I've paired them for their matching coats (or lack thereof). The "Deluxe" versions each came with a piece of steampunk weaponry (not pictured). I'm afraid I have a hard time picturing Will using a crossbow or Jack using that particular triple-barreled cannon. 0_o

Lastly, I bought these guys with a much larger purchase from Hot Toys. They were cute and cheap - I couldn't resist.

Do you collect just certain kinds of stuff? (books, magazines, paper products, dolls, videos, cards, games, or just what you happen to see that you can afford, etc...)
Anything in my budget for the most part, I have a small collection of Jack Sparrow bumper stickers, about five posters, and little things like that.

Are you into just certain characters or pairings? (Take your pick.)
Barbossa, need I say more??

Do you make anything yourself?
Mhm... mostly collages.

What is the most money you have spent on anything in your collection?
I spent around $50 back in June for a Captain Jack fleece throw.

Of everything you own, do you have any favorites?
Hmmm... I really like my AWE tanktop.

Is there any one thing you have that is a real conversation starter?
Heh, not really.
...yet...

What made you get into collecting for Pirates of the Caribbean? (Love of the movies? A character? Other?)
Love of the movies, at first. Right now, I'm interested in anything Barbossa related (and I still adore the film of course *chuckes weakly*)

Where do you shop most for your collection? (Online, stores, conventions, etc.)
Heh, Hot Topic. ^_^ ... and Claires.

I simply cut and pasted a few captions and pictures from the last "PotC stuff" post to my journal. I'll post my new favorites as soon as I manage a photo shoot for them. :) But this bunch does include my Gateway Drug: the folders and notebooks (and stickers and whatnot) that were too pretty and too completely inexpensive to pass up. (Sorry about the size of the pics. I was having issues with photobucket. I really just wanted to get my feet wet here.)

Six relatively small pictures.Collapse )

And - an aside to the comm mod: I wasn't sure how specific you wanted to get with the tags. As an example: at the moment, I think all the 7" action figures are put out by the same company, but I don't remember the name of that company (I'm a bad collector :-p I rarely keep the box) and that fact could change. Just let me know, and I can try to be more specific in my listing. Thanks!

- Name?  Grace

- Age? 24. Well, can we say I'm 24? My birthday is in a few weeks :P

- Location? North Florida, USA

- Do you collect just certain kinds of stuff? (books, magazines, paper products, dolls, videos, cards, games, or just what you happen to see that you can afford, etc...) I don't really limit it to any one sort of thing, though I do tend to lean towards the more unique if I can get it.

- Are you into just certain characters or pairings? (Take your pick.) Quite proud to be a Barbossa fan, and I ship Barbossa/Elizabeth

- Do you make anything yourself? Just digital stuff, though I'd love to do a costume some day.

- What is the most money you have spent on anything in your collection? Over $200 for the Hector Barbossa sword *winces*

- Of everything you own, do you have any favorites? My 3x5 Barbossa banner. I wanted that poster ever since those pictures were released!

- Is there any one thing you have that is a real conversation starter? (Or people find strange?) I'm waiting for someone to walk into my room and wonder why the heck I have that huge banner . . .

- What made you get into collecting for Pirates of the Caribbean? (Love of the movies? A character? Other?)  Kind of funny, now that I think about it. I saw some folders for sale where I was working and decided I had to get them, even though I was long out of school and had absolutely no use for folders anymore. That's combined with a love for the movies though, naturally. I like to buy things from all my fandoms; you should see my LotR stuff ^_^

- Where do you shop most for your collection? (Online, stores, conventions, etc.) Mostly online
